How can I find a lost relative using the internet?

I have an uncle who cut off all contact with the family about 20 years ago, my grandmother is sick and she really wants to know if he is okay.

What would be the best way to find him? I know he probably doesn't want to talk with us, but I just want to figure out if he is still alive and where he is living.

I have all his information ( I am not sure if I have his correct SSN - but I have everything else) - is there any legitimate website I can use to find him?

Thanks!

Most people use their real names on the internet these days.

A quick good search will find many peoeple with the same name.

Also try facebook, twitter, myspace and so on to find people of that same name. You can also look at websites designed to keep you intouch with old class mates.

Once you have their contact details and they seem to match your uncle's details contact him with a nice polite message and go from them.

Also don't forget the good old fashioned phonebook (it is online these days).

If that fails simply get in touch with a detective agency. They know how to get access to all sorts of public records and will be the best bet to try and track someone down.
