how do i do a small 5 like if i want to do 4x10to the 5 but liek the 5 would be small and above the 10 kinda?

    Edit: Ahh.. but I think you mean "Microsoft Word 2003"? Right? that just occured to me.

    highlight the letter, hold down "control" and "shift", and press the "equal".

    to make it small (subscript) hold down just "control" and press the "equal" key.

    You can also highlight the text, go into format -> font -> and check "superscript" (for little up) or "subscript" (for little down)

    I do not know what you mean 2003 ome... but to do what you are asking, common notation is to use the carrot sign.

    i.e., 4X10^5

    Another common shorthand, is 4E5. you use this on most scientific calculators made by texas instruments.
