Why does stopping birth control pills cause hair loss?
After I stopped taking the pill, I noticed that my hair loss increased. Has anyone experienced this?

The estrogen in the pill stimulated and prolonged the growth phase of your hair follicles.
So more than the usual 10% of hairs to reach the resting phase and then the sloughing phase about 3-4 months later. It usually only lasts for a month or two and the hairs resume a random growth pattern.
When you stop the pills, the same process may take place because the growth phase shortens, and more hairs go into a resting phase several months later. So it seems the pills can be causing some hair loss now, but the loss will go away soon.

Pills affect everyone differently. I've been on three different birth control pills (Orthro Tricycline, Yaz, Yazmin) and I have noticed hair loss on my scalp. It is a side effect with almost all birth controls. I've always thought it was stress too until I went off those pills and my hair grew back. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news.

Well
There are many factors that can attribute to hair recession or massive hair fall and you need to find out which one exactly is responsible for the problem you are having now. Of course male pattern baldness is still the most common cause, but, for instance, if you are a woman things are deinitely different! This is the reason why you will need to really dig down and see the source of your problem.
Other causes of hair loss may include (both in men and women): severe mental or emotional stress, excessive use of coloring or bleaching agents, traction alopecia or excessive strain on the scalp due to braiding or corn rowing, hormonal changes, alopecia areata or hair loss due to autoimmune diseases, and many more. Each of these conditions will require a different approach in order to achieve success regardless of whether you're going to be using conventional or natural methods.
In my opinion it's much better to use natural methods as opposed to conventional ones, they're cheaper, have less to no side effects, and often more effective.
A good way of regaining your full head of healthy natural hair is well described on this guide: http://hairagain.toptips.org/

The pill mimics the hormone release involved in pregnancy to trick your body into believing it is pregnant therefore halting the release of more ovum. During pregnancy the body stops shedding old hair. When you stop the pill your body thinks it is no longer "pregnant" thus starting the hair shedding process again.
