Why dose President Obama, plan to only send 30,000 more troops?

Stanley McChrystal, the commander in Afghanistan asked for 40,000-60,000 more troops in order to win the war in Afghanistan, and save American troops. Am I the only one who thinks that giving LESS then what is needed, is not right, why would he send less then what is asked, General McChrystal said that he needs no less then 40,000 so why send him less, Why not send him 50,000, or even only 40,000. This war is starting to sound like Vietnam, and we do not what that to happen.

Update:

"You were going to complain about Obama no matter what, weren't you? The right complains when they don't get troops, they complain when they do"

Now that was uncalled for, I do not agree with everything that our president has to say, but he is our president, I do not support the war, BUT I SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, if it is said that more troops are needed to bring them home safe, then that is what is needed.

Update 2:

"Because troops cost money, the current estimate is about a million a year per troop. Nobody wants to pay for it. Do you?" It is very true that nobody want to pay for the troops, but how can you put a price on an American solders life, because if more troops are needed to save there lives, and get Afghanistan on its own feet so we can leave, then the cost in life, would be far less then the cost in $.

Update 3:

"Where were you when Bush repeatedly refused to send more troops to Afghanistan and let it drag on and on?"

I was mad at bush for not sending more troops were do you think I was.

Update 4:

and please note that I have TWO brothers in the army, one in Iran the other one getting ready for deployment, I would be the last one to want to send troops to there death, but when it is said by the troops on the field that "we need more troops" then I can not help but think that they need more troops.

Personally I think it's a mistake too. I think he is trying to appease both Dems & Reps- Republicans by adding troops & dems by not adding as many as the General asked for, and giving a timeline for withdrawal. I think politically it is a mistake for him by making both sides angry though and will hurt him more with both parties.

McChrystal provided several options, including one for 80,000 troops.

Where were you when Bush repeatedly refused to send more troops to Afghanistan and let it drag on and on?

But Chrissy statement yesterday helped America a lot.
