Why do Americans think Britain would be speaking German WWII?
I would like to first say I love most Americans because i feel like we are brothers.
But why the **** to Americans think it would just be Britain speaking German had they not helped??
If America had not done **** and Britain did get took over, you think America would have won the war?
If Britain did get taken over thorld would have been siriously ****** up, because the Germans would of had Holland,Britain Italy and France plus if Britain got taken over, Russia i think would have helped the Germans way more plus Japan and way more countries would have formed an allience to Germany the day Britain got controlled. They are so many other countries that hate America that would have formed a big *** allience.America is strong but do you think you could have won that war.Plus without Britain it would be way harder to get to europe for America.
You did help us in force but Winston Churchill had so many spies that gave him a lot of intelligence and then with the force of Canada/America/Britain won the war.
And some kid on yahoo answers thinks because we owe America for WWII and by pulling are troops out of Iraq to Afgan was dis loyal.Like do you America have history books do the kids know that England/Europe are the ones that killed all the native Americans took it over and now you are Americans.Thats why places like New York means NEW york and i think Englands York has been around so much longer than New York and this is why you have places like NEW england in americans.
I mean am i wrong saying we English gave birth to America?
How would you feel if Russia or China invaded Native America ?
Isn't every American somehow in there family tree related to a Brit?
People that say Blair was Bush's Lapdogg? Blair see 9/11 thought it was unacceptle then the London bombs happend plus he and Bush probaly got two fat pay checks isnt that enough reason to go to war instead of being a lap dogg?
Again i love most Americans because you are my family but sometimes i feel like you guys do not have great schools(thats coming from a Brit are school are ****)

Edit there were NO US aircraft involved in the Battle of Britian in 1940 I know i watched it from the Ground End of Edit
Because Americans have the Arrogance to assume they saved the UK in WW1 when they only took over after all of Germany's allies had quit and the RN blockade was already starving the people in Germany and the German navy was about to Mutiny
It is a fact the British would have beaten the Germans in both war without a single US soldier entering the conflicts in Europe
And In WW2 the British were already beating the Germans before lend lease we won the Battle of Britain and stopped the Germans getting any closer than 90 miles from Alexandria preventing the nazis form getting the oil Fields
if the Americans had not put hitler in power and supported him Financially there would not have been a WW2
and as soon as Albert speer told Hitler that germany would run out of Fuel By 1943 and No Oil = no petrol/Gas no lubricating oil no jet fuel no Diesel and No Explosives as all of WW2 explosives was manufactured using the Basic Benzine Ring Explosives Chemistry
Standard Oil Gave the NAZI'S the Formulas and plans to build a chemical factory to produce Synthetic Fuel Rubber and Oil from coal so IG Farben built a chemical factory at Auschwitz near Poland's largest coal reserves and clean water Originally they used paid workers then IBM built a machine to assist in running the factory efficiently
It was very difficult for the UK to beat the Germans and the Americans Before the Americans Got Rich with lend Lease and selling to the Germans as late as 1944
Churchill asked the Americans to come to our rescue and were IGNORED and by the time the American Military arrived germany was loosing so in reality all the americans did was extend WW2 past 1943 and in My opinion should have stuck to the Pacific and left Europe to the British and the Russians and with No FDR and Eisenhower In europe there would have been No cold war in Europe
One of the Things that beat the Germans was their own arrogance in beleiving their Inigma codes were safe the British were reading ALL of the High command messages and Once we got a navy Inigma were able to Know where when and why and How many and who was in charge that is why Montgommery was always prepaired he sacrificed his armoured column at Cain to give the americans time to get off the Beaches and the Highest ranking 5 star at normandy That is why he was In charge of the 21 army group and NOT an american

I have scandavian blood in my falimy history, but I do respect Brittain and England. Winston Chruchill was a great man, and between Joeself Stalin and the American president working together, they defeated the Germans and hitler from ruining this world. The chess game between US, England, and the US leaders also was going on during all them plans on the invasion of Normady. The three leaders was trying to outsmart each other in benefit of their own countries, and German researched technology was a big stake. The SAS is the best inteliigence and terrorist unit in the world, our US can not compete with these boys, their tactics have proved themselves many times over, with no causulties in hostage situations and the ones doing the hostage taking results in their death. England and US relations are not what they was under other administrations, thats Obamma's doing, and he is part muslim which is very scarey. England and the US have got to remain strong alliances, and lead the UN into this new century. The US is in a cold war with Russia since the end of WW II, and still continues, if they think the cold war is over, they have a surprize.

Nope. The germans lost the war in Russia. The western front was not this important for the final outcome of the war. Also germany didn´t really have an interesst in conquering and occupy Britain. Hitler didn´t even want to have a war with the british. btw. No one in the occupied countries was forced to speak or learn german. So this makes the whole language thing irrelevant anyway.

Harry,
I agree with some of your points, and disagree with others.
1. You're certainly correct to say that the British and Commonwealth forces did the necessary job of turning the Germans back without duirect US involvement. There were some US pilots flying for the Eagle Squadron, and a good number of US aircraft used in the critical Battle of Britain, but ultimately, British / Commonwealth pilots' bravery, the RADAR instalations and the fact that German aircraft designs were ill suited for a long range, sustained bombing campaign all served to prevent a German invasion of Britain.
2. If Britain had fallen, there's essentially no way that the US could have gotten involved in the war in Europe, and no sense in doing so anyway. The US strategy would then, probably, have been to support the Soviet Union and focus entirely upon defeating Japan as quickly as possible. This likely could have been pretty swiftly acomplished. Remember that the US was sending the bulk of its supplies and manpower to the European front through most of the war. Had all of those resources been focused upon the Pacific War, it would have ended swiflty.
3. Hitler's alliance with the Soviets was a simple expedient, and both sides knew it. Hitler would not have been content to remain allied with Stalin. In point of fact, the whole woal of the war, from Hitler's perspective, was to finish off Western Europe (most especially France) and then turn East and crush the Communists, take Western Russia for "Liebenstraum" or living space, and eradicate Jews and Slavs from those areas.
4. I'll grant you that on Yahoo Answers there often seem to be some rather foolish folks, and all too often, they're American. However, as a Marine combat veteran myself, and the father of another Marine combat vet, I want to note that British cooperation in Iraq was a matter of both politics and poor intelligence, and I certainly don't blame you Brits for pulling your troops out of Iraq. That war was, to use one of your terms, bollocks right from the start. There's nothing disloyal about British withdrawal in Iraq. Hell, we're in the pro cess of pulling out, too! Moreover, Britain (unlike the Soviets and the Chinese) paid back every cent of what they owed for US loans during the war, even though it took a long time. Britain owes the US nothing. We both owe each other friendship because of our shared language and heritage (along with Canada and Australia, of course), but we owe each other military support ONLY where our strategic interests coincide. Did the US side with Britain during the Falklands? No. Our interests were not there.
So, cheer up, man! Just because a couple of teeny-bopper dunces don't know their **** (again, your term) from a hole in the ground, don't flip out, right?

I am going to debate one of your incorrect assessments. I think everyone else will address your other complaints.
England didn’t necessarily give birth to America. You mentioned "New York". If you truly understood the History of New York you would realize it was heavily settled, developed and supported by Dutch traders. New York was a name granted to the “region” later, however, New York began as a Dutch trading port and colonized region. The British and Dutch both were there, but the Dutch have a very integral history within the region. England was not the only country involved in that region; please brush up on your history. America began as a colony of England; however we gave birth to our own nation. Remember something called the Revolutionary War? The Constitution, Bill of Rights and fundamental government we have today was due to the men who made the active effort to separate from England and begin a new nation. America is responsible for America’s birth, not England. Also, you need to realize much of America was purchased/won by Americans. We took land from the French, Spanish and Dutch. Our nation began as an English Colony, but we (Americans) made it what it is today. We gave birth to this nation; after we separated from yours.
Also, most Americans will not trace their roots back to England. America had great immigration surges directly related to other countries famines, poverty, war and poor living conditions. Hence why you have a massive number of Irish, Italian, German, Latin American, Asian and parts of Eastern Europe pouring into American during the late 19th and early 20th century. People fled to a land that offered greater opportunity. Hence, why more Americans will have their roots connected with a nation other than England.
Please do not take credit for the entirety nation. We began as your colony; we are now your Ally.

Actually, there are probably more Americans that can trace their roots back to Germany than there are those that can trace them to England.
A common language goes a long ways.
History is written by every country for its own people. Just because American history books don't align with yours, does not mean they are wrong. Just interpreted from a different view point.
Many Americans did not want to participate in world war 2 because it did not affect them, and they had just contributed to world war 1 roughly 20 years earlier. They did not want hundreds of thousands of their citizens to have to go and die for a European problem. This is why many see American involvement in world war 2 as a favor to the British.

Actually, some Britons ARE speaking German right now, just google Richard Simcott. LOL.

Britain was in trouble. It's tough to think you would've gotten out of it without the U.S. That being said, I will say that the English did give birth to the U.S. and has been a great ally and, frankly, I think the U.S. and FDR acted cowardly by not getting involved sooner in WWII. We should have stepped in sooner before Hitler expanded as he did, but the cowards didn't want to help. I wonder how many Jews and European soldiers and civilians lives could've been saved if the U.S. would have acted sooner?

I have nothing against British people either, but Germany had a leg up on you guys and you most likely couldnt have won on your own. Germany was expanding until we got there and they were constantly gaining new land and recourses.
They wouldnt have won because they were stronger or better or anything like that, England has a fatal flaw in that it is an Island. The Germans with their strong Navy would have just blockaded England and continued to launch missiles. They most likely couldnt invade on land but the Brits could have held them off for a while.
But there missile technology was getting better every second, they had the best scientists in the world and it was only a matter of time until they came up with something devastating.

America helped and if Stalin wasn't Allies we'd have been speaking German.
Lets not forget though, Britain was the only country fighting fascism while the rest of the world looked on.
