Does anyone have horror stories of our "darlings" helping with the Christmas decorating?

Time to get in the spirits;(rather spirit) of the Christmas season.

Ah yes the horror stories! my aunt just phoned me the other day to tell me about her little darling Smokey she is 10 years old and always causes a drama at this time of year,

and this year she did a good one! my aunt went upstairs and left Smokey unattended with the decoration's "big mistake"on my aunts half as Smokey dragged down the tree baubles rolled everywhere,

and as if that wasn't bad enough my aunts best new tableware dishes plates cups and saucers ect put on one side especially for use for christmas dinner crashed to the floor when the tree hit it so there goes the dishes all in thousands of bits! and it was a set for 14 people,

and Smokey just looked at her all innocent or so i am told! i couldn't hold back my laughter when she told me and Smokey is a darling who has been through a lot bless her,she has had half her tail amputated due to injury but copes well but as for climbing Christmas trees being with half a tail causes balance problems for her,and dish problems for aunt!

Oh god . . . YES. When I was 8 years old, we had a small (fat) cat. We loved her until Christmas. . . *dramatic pause* ;) We had just put up our 7 foot tall Christmas Tree. It sure was a beauty. We had just put on all our (unfortunately) glass ornaments on it. It was night, we had just had dinner and I was practicing piano in the living room where the Christmas Tree was. Then. . . I heard RUSTLING. *horrified screams* ;D I turned and saw my kitten climbing the tree. I laughed, thinking it was cute and funny. I watched her. Soon, she was at 6 and a half feet high. That's when things went wrong. She tripped on a branch (or something like that) and 4 ornaments crashed to the floor. She froze and scrambled down the tree, causing more ornaments to crash to the ground. *horrified screams* that made her more scared, which caused her to go faster, which caused more ornaments to fall than the last time. By the time Mom and Dad got there, she had gotten to the floor and only a couple ornaments remained on the tree. My sister was horrified. I thought it was funny. *astonished gasps* (until I saw Mom and Dad were furious.) Man, that was the Christmas of my life. I'll never forget. ;)

I hope my story was interesting!

As of right now, our cats have left the tree alone, which is a first. They do like to sleep under it though lol. Last year, we had several broken ornaments, and have come home a few times to find that garland and lights had been pulled off. :)

When our 4 year olds were kittens, they used to sleep UP IN the tree! While it drove us crazy cuz they would knock things off of the tree, it was SO CUTE to see this little adorable face peeking out from between the brances :)

We have wreaths that we hang everywhere. Last year, we had them sitting on the floor (we were in the middle of switching around the fall and winter) and one of them slept in the middle if it! So cute! We were lucky enough to get pictures :)

And, of course, they ALWAYS help decorate on Christmas day when we open gits. They just LOVE wrapping paper :)

And the names of the reindeer (dasher, dancer, ect) are the nicknames to our cats. we have 8 :)

  • Oh yeah! Once, my kitten Tiger climbed our first real Christmas tree the night after we put it up and put the ornaments on it. She climbed to the top and started playing with the star, then the tree fell over. My dog was watching her and the tree almost fell on both of them! I was screaming, luckily they both jumped out(dog jumped out of way and cat jump out of tree). Poor 'lil Tiger got a cut on her paw and none of the ornaments survived. At least there were no presents under the tree...No more real Christmas tree's for my family!
