I have a problem with my computer CD/DVD drives?

Somehow I have lost my CD/DVD drives on the computer. I followed help instruction to reinstate through the Device Manager but ended up with an error 37 message. Bearing in mind I cannot download anything, ideas would be deeply appreciated

Update:

Thanks to all three, the ten points went into the hat, Regretably all the results turned out the same:- New hard ware found but an error occurred during installation and it may not function and it didn't It looks like I will have to call in the little man. Thanks again Eric S

Microsoft recommends the following solution for Error 37:

Uninstall the driver from Device Manager, and then scan for new hardware to install the driver again. You may be prompted to provide the path of the driver. Windows may have the driver built-in, or may still have the driver files installed from the last time that you set up the device. However, sometimes, it will open the New Hardware Wizard which may ask for the driver. If you are asked for the driver and you do not have it, you can try to download the latest driver from the hardware manufacturer’s Web site.

    1. On the device Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Uninstall. Follow the instructions.

    2. Restart your computer.

    3. Open Device Manager, click Action, and then click Scan for hardware changes. Follow the instructions.

If you've already reinstalled the driver, then hopefully this link may help solve your problem:

    Good luck.

    Hi,

Its a registry corruption issue most likely. You can download the file from the link below and just run it. Its a registry file to fix your CD/DVD drive. If you have anymore issues, please let me know.
