Liver cake treats - Blitz 1lb liver and stale or toasted bread in a processor with 2 cloves of garlic (dogs love it and it's good for them). When the mixture has the consistency of thick dough spread evenly on a baking tray about 1cm thick, bake at 220 degrees/Gas Mark 7 for 20-25 min's till the top starts to crisp and the 'cake' feels firm. Allow to cool and cut into 1cm cubes. Makes ideal low fat, nutritious; tasty treats and will have your pooch doing cartwheels to get some! Put into small daily freezer bags & freeze, taking one out the night before for use the following day.

Here's the treat recipe I use for my allergic sheltie;
two frozen salmon fillets, one shredded carrot, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, and one cup RICE flour.
Pulse in a food processor adding water until you have a cookie dough, then with an icecream scoop, dip them out onto a greased cookie sheet and bake at 375 for about 15 minutes.
I keep some in a small container in the fridge and the rest in the freezer, removing them as needed.
You can do a google search for dog recipes and find lots and lots of them.

Hi
There is this website, even though it is meant for kids, I still find it fascinating and it has a lot of things you can make for your dog (including birthday treats). Have a look:

It's also got some toys you could make for your dog and stuff like that. Hope you enjoy the website!

There are LOTS of doggy birthday cake recipes here...

...but, many of them contain flour and other grains in the ingredients. If it were me I'd just stick a candle in a big piece of steak ;) Healthy AND makes the dog feel spoiled.
