Would you say that most of the questions in this politics section are asked because the inquirer wants...?

I agree the posers are usually not asking legitimate questions. I see most as attempting to promote their bizarre points of view. I think most users are not qualified to try to educate.

Some are well thought out questions, but many questions are just an opportunity to incite counter opinion, vent hatred and reinforce outrageous views held by a very few Askers. As someone who appreciates that others have opinions which will be the opposite of mine, I have occasionally been persuaded that my opinion is not necessarily set in stone because some answers are excellent and well thought out. Although I am relatively new to this site and enjoy political comment, I have not yet asked questions because of the vindictiveness and vitriol aimed at many who dare to ask a reasonable question. As for the "baiting" type question, I have risen to the bait - shame on me. One thing is clear, some of the questions are created simply to instigate hatred and have no value towards either educating or putting forth reasonable comment.

Often when I ask a question it is to educate but also to see what kind of response I get from the other side. This helps me understand how their minds work. I don't block anyone simply because they disagree with me. I have blocked one person in all the time I've been on here and that was because every one of his answers contained crude comments, profanity, or racial slurs.

They are asked for enterainment purposes. Most commentary here is in the form of a drive-by shooting. There is no real attempt to gather information or provide it.

They just want others to agree with them. That's why the right-wingers immediately block anyone who actually tries to answer their questions, and why answers with a real factual basis get so many thumbs-downs.
