How to set up leopard gecko enclosure?
okay i have everything i need. all i need to know is what the temperatures should be in the cage. I know there needs to be a "hot" side and a "cool" side. but how hot should the hot side be? is 85 degrees hot enough for daytime? and how hot should the hot side be at night?
and how hot should the cold side be? is like 65 degrees too cold for daytime? and what temp should the cold side be at night?
thanks danger erin! but also, how much should i feed it? when theyre little i know its supposed to be like 3 small crickets every night dusted in calcium right? and also, should i have a seperate bowl filled with vitamin/mineral dust?

if you have a basking light in the tank then it should be about 90F under that. Ambient temperatures in the day should be 80 - 85F, possibly 75 at the lowest in the cool side
65 is a little too cold
at night both sides of the tank can drop into the 70's.
make sure you monitor the temps to make sure they are fine for your gecko
if things arent hot enough you'll need to invest in some (more) heating equipment. If you already have a heat mat, then get a heat lamp too
remember leopard geckos come from relatively hot countries, and so need that heat to function properly and digest their food :)
for the feeding, when they are babies its best to feed them as much as they'll take a couple times a day every other day (or every day if they dont eat much).
Dont dust the crickets every time you feed the gecko - oversupplementation can be just as, if not more dangerous than undersupplementation. The calcium powders comes with feeding instructions on the label, but you only usually need to dust things a couple times a week
A small bowl of calcium in the tank is a good idea, just to give them the option of it :)
Oh! and dont forget to gutload your insects (feed them nice things like fresh veggies) so your gecko isnt essentially just eating an empty shell

My hot side is about 85-90 for daytime, and cold side is 75-80 usually.
At night shut all lights off and allow it to cool down, they should not have any heat at all unless your house freezes at night, remember night time where these guys are from are not warm ! it does get cold ! I have all mine on a timer, providing 9 hours of heat, then night time shuts off until a little after dawn.
