Identify the 265 engine?
You have 6 cylinder blocks, clean, no other parts. The boss says get me that 265. How can you tell without measuring the bore or reading any numbers which is the 265?
HyperGforce, I read that article, just where did it say how to identify the 265?
Samboski, sorry, old man, but there is a way.

If it were not for the 57 model 283 you would be home free just looking to see if the block had side motor mount bosses or not. But sorry, you cannot distinguish the 57 model 283 from a 265 by looking. They both had front only mounts, grooved rear cam bearing oiling systems and so on. You could guess I guess. Best is to measure the bore after noting the other differences in the early engines.
