I'd say Lo-fi also applies to their sound equipment and sometimes instruments used although not all Hip-Hop bands use the same or all of the music instruments that say like Punk or Metal bands do or all the instruments that other genres use - not all, but some do. This I have to think about, because for example, not all Rap is Hip-Hop and with some of their music amplified to levels it has been they can be quite loud too - in fact sometimes as loud as some Rock bands. For example I remember seeing Public Enemy live in a really good sized auditorium & it definitely was loud. Speaking of that, some Rap groups like Public Enemy and Beastie Boys for example have very talented people using good equipment so as I mentioned - this I have to ponder a bit to think about which Rap groups might, because I never really thought about Rap/Hip-Hop in terms of Lo-Fi as with some Rock bands it was maybe sometimes easier to perceive from hearing the sound, especially as I get into different genres and some of those genres include Lo-Fi.

Hmmm I think I'll have to edit later while I ponder and contemplate about this good question - in the meantime I'll star your question so if someone else thinks of it in the meantime - hopefully the star will help someone see your question, because while I get into a bunch of Rap - especially old school - most of my expertise though is more into Alternative such as Punk, Noise, Industrial, Experimental, Psychobilly, etc.

I'm not sure. I can't really think of any that aren't obvious.

The closest I can think of is maybe some Cannibal Ox or some Deltron 3030. Good question...
