Does a rat need to be 'put under' to get stitches?

I posted a question awhile ago about my rat who popped open her stitches. I'm definately taking her to the vet in the morning to get it restitched but I want to know if they can do that while she's awake or do they have to knock her out for it?

They may lightly knock her out for it. It depends how long it will take them to stitch - but she'll most likely be 'put under' to reduce the pain & stress she'd experience if not.

Good luck and best wishes to your Ratty!

    They'll put her under.

There's no way in the world a rat will hold still enough to let someone stick a needle in them.

well they would either sedate her, so she wouldnt feel it and she wouldnt move or they would knock her completely out
