Who are some good black authors for a teen?
Well I'm starting to take up the interest of reading because i feel I'm slowly growing stupid ..lol
Also if you know any good books by black authors for teens or just in general, please let me know , thanks.

You might enjoy the suspense novels of James Patterson about Alex Cross. Patterson's not black, but his main character is, and his new books about racial prejudice and lynchings in 1990 Mississippi, ALEX CROSS'S TRIAL, is excellent.
As are the books of Ralph Ellison, Maya Angelou, James Baldwin, Steven Barnes (science fiction), Octavia Butler (SF and fantasy), Samuel R. Delany (SF; incredible!, but hard reading), Rita Dove (poetry), Alex Haley (of course!), Langston Hughes (poetry), Walter Mosley, Alice Walker, Hugh Holton (mysteries), Terry McMillan, and Alice Randall.

Why black authours in particular?
I like Malorie Blackman, and her range of books, especially Noughts and Crosses. She does a range of genres and has a nice writing style.
