What is wrong with my dwarf hampster?
I've had 2 dwarf hamsters for about a year and never had any problems. All of a sudden one keeps attacking the other and bending the bars on the cage escaping. We always clean the cage and keep fresh food and water there. It is like one has just lost his or her mind. Will this stop?

well , look and see what he is doing. he is attacking the other one. that is the first clue, he is not very pleased with the other one, he doesn;t like the other ones company, ok? and he is bending the bars trying to escape. what do you suppose he is running away from? or trying to? the other hampster. get another cage and separate them. or if you don't you are going to end up with only one hampster one of these days. they actually do kill each other sometimes. i have had hampsters that did this. bite the other one in the stomach and kill it. and bite off its ear too.

I had two rats together in the same cage and they were fine for awhile but started having problems because they were fighting and were even drawing blood so i separated them. If your hamsters are two females or two males it could be a gender thing where they simply just don't get along. But also with the separating issue you have to be careful because after i separated my rats they became very sick and started acting weird and eventually both died :/ my mom believed it had to due with them being alone and that rats are very social creatures, but i don't know how that applies to hamsters. I would say to just separate them for awhile and see how they act and if they act funny away from each other then put them back together.
