In reference to my prior question, anybody want to respond to mystery lady?

This was her response to my question about the atomic bombs the United States dropped on Japan. She said "I met one of the scientists who made the detonator for the Atom bomb. He couldn't get over what happened in Japan and died thinking that he was the cause of death to millions and millions of Japanese. If he were alive, how would you tell him? Well, I couldn't."

First there were not millions and millions for Japanese civilians killed by the bombs. The number was in the hundred thousands. A number far less than the anticipated losses if we had invaded Japan. Also we did to the Japanese exactly what they were trying to do to us had they been successful in their abomb program. I doubt you met the scientist that made the detonater but if you had you should have told him "You saved hundreds of thousands of military personnel and possibly another one or two years of war. You also saved all of the Japanese cililians, men, women and children that were taught by the Japanese government that the Americans are evil and will eat your children.

Anybody else care to add?

    1. What's this doing in Books & Authors?

    2. It's strange how people who condemn the scientists who made the atomic bomb never seem to have anything bad to say about the military and political leaders who decided to use it.
