Does the H1N1 flu shot really prevent H1N1?
I got the H1N1 flu shot, but I heard that the shot doesn't prevent you from getting H1N1, it just lessens the symptoms. Is this true?

By definition, a vaccine prevents you from getting a future infection. However, vaccines (especially new ones) are not 100% effective, so you may still get H1N1, or it may work partially by strengthening but not solidifying your immune system (thus making the symptoms weaker). In general though, it will prevent you from getting H1N1.

No, the H1N1 shot is a vaccine, which means that it gives you a small portion or almost dead parts of the virus, so you may get sick. But why they give you a little of the virus is because your body will create antibodies to stop it in case the real virus comes along. And if you already have the virus, its best not to get the shot because your just being injected more H1N1

to be honest i think all those shots r pointless depends how much vitamin d you have in your body to resistance to illnesses, example;i got the flu shot a while back never got the flu way before i toke the shot, after i toke it i got the flu more then i ever have in my life no joke. anyways all these shots are pointless want to stay healthy dress the weathers season the end, all the shots are just was of pharmasists trying to make you all paranoyed to get there money.

My friend got a Nasal injection of the "swine flu" live, but not enough to harm her. To build up her immune system.
I'm pretty sure the Nasal thing lessens the symptoms. But i don't know about the shot.
Hope this helps...

Nope. Never got a flu shot before and I'm not starting this year.

No, it doesn't really help. Since this vaccine was made in rush and no strong research has been done on it; I wouldn't take it because it can have some side effects which can develop later on. Safe thing to do is just wash your hands often and keep your hands away from nose and eyes because the viruses enter your body through these two senses.
