Can someone answer this about my cellphone contract?

Okay, I have a 2 year contract with verizon that won't be up until April of 2011. Well I got a new phone, the voyager, when I got my contract last April. About 3 months after I got it the touch screen broke. I have insurance so it would only be $50 dollars for a new phone.

The problem is I didn't have the money to get it fixed then, and my parents wouldn't pay for it. I now have the money, when I took it up there they said they no longer have the phone so I would have to upgrade. I don't want the upgrade if I have to get a different phone I want something non touch screen this time.

So all my rambling led to this question: If I buy a phone off of ebay that is verizon compatible will they let me use it to replace my voyager, will I have to get a new number and contract, or will I have to pay extra fees? Thank you!

You are not required to upgrade. Call customer care or asurion (the insurance company) and tell them it broke they are REQUIRED to replace the original phone or one similar to that. You could also buy a verizon brand phone of ebay and use it. You will not need a new contract or number or pay any fees. You just press *228 from the phone you get and it programs
