Some medications can cause bad breath, and of course poor oral hygiene. Garlic and onion can also contribute to halitosis. I suggest he visit pay the doctor a visit. Kidney disease can present with halitosis resembling urine or even "fishy."

Also, try to recall what your son ate for dinner and/or before bed...it may be helpful to keep some sort of a record so that you can recognize any common denominators that correlate with your son's breath. I would still get him checked out by a doc.

Make certain he isn't touching his own urine and putting his fingers in his mouth. Kidney disease & kidney failure can cause the breath to smell ammonia-like, similar to urine. I'd take him to his pediatrician if I were you. This isn't normal.

You can get ketones without having diabetes - it could be a symptom of an infection or just not eating enough - hopefully the dr's blood tests will get to the bottom of it - don't panic - I don't think he has diabetes! xxx

I'm having it right now and I think it's because I was having fun moving bubbles around my body and the air got pushed up, not down.

Ask your pediatrician. This may be a sign of some stomach or intestinal problems.
