Origins of War, recommended reading?
Can anyone recommend a book which explains the origins of War in fairly simplistic terms. Nothing to deep and intellectual

A History of Warfare by John Keagan is probably your best option.

Hello Nick;
As an avid reader have read many books written by Journalist.
Feel that one of the most comprehensive books written by a Journalist that covered the Viet Nam war from a personal level and covered the War from Beginning to end. The book is called "The Bright Shinning Lie" and the Author name is hard to spell for me at this point.
This book took 16 years to put together and it is thick and heavy. Follows a young lieutenant who was involved with the Vietnamese people as war ravaged much of their country..Easy reading as the Author remains with the unit and has the opportunity to spend with this young guy and his experiences. Robin Williams reminded me of this guy in the movie "Hello Vietnam"
This book has extensive coverage of how we got into the War and is easy reading. Big though.
www.powellsbooks.com Both new and used.
And read about the book to see if this what you are looking for. While on their site search for "war" and see what they have...They are big and can find any book you need. Shipped to you.
