Either is fine, as long as it
1) Isn't too strong
2) Isn't used in replacement of Hygiene
Most would prefer aftershave, as it is less strong and distinctive. Bad/strong cologne is horrible. Aftershave is always safe. You can't mess up.

Cologne, but a faint one. I mean, not that I'm too opposed to aftershave, it just has to be just as faint. Overall cologne is more appealing to me.

I love both , cologne and aftershave scents. Just as long as the scents are mild, and they're not trying to hide funky b.o. That also sends a signal to me that ,that man cares how he presents himself to others.
