Take a knee in football (Quarterback kneel).?

Hi. I would like to know how many seconds ran off the clock when a quarterback takes a knee. Is it 40 seconds? 45 seconds? 30 seconds? Please let me know. Thanks!!!

    The NFL play clock is 40 seconds. If the Quarterback takes a knee with less than 40 seconds left, and the other team has no timeouts - the 40 seconds will run off the clock and the game will end.

    When the head referee puts the ball down and for the ball to be put in play,the play clock starts.
