cant use linksys wireless router with desktop and laptop at same time?

My friend just purchased a linksys wireless router. if she is on the desktop surfing the net her husband can't connect with laptop and vice versa. Any ideas?

    Make sure you have it hooked up correctly.

    Connect the Computer/LAN port on your modem to the router's Internet/WAN port.

    Make sure both the desktop and laptop are connected to router's LAN ports (or wireless).

    You may need to unplug the modem/router to get things to take effect.

    Make sure the cable from the modem is connected to the WAN port on the router, and not any of the LAN ports.

    try those steps in this order; you won't would desire to do all of them. once you alter from pc under pressure to modem to router under pressure to modem, you may reboot the modem. you would be able to desire a flow cable between modem and router (and probably a immediately cable is okay for the pc if it has automobile sensing port). verify that out. finally, be certain you have the router WAN config set for a dynamic ip out of your provider. shop your router config settings, and reboot.
