I have a transmission question.?
I have an 86 Grand Prix with a 700 R4 Trans. The old trans was not shifting to 2nd,it only had 1st. So we replaced the trans and now the other trans is doing the same thing. Not sure what it is. Does anyone know why both trans would be doing this and how I can fix it?

it could be the modulator on the transmission if you have 1. check to see if there is vacuum going to it. it won,t shift if it,s bad or no vacuum.
