I'm going to have a vasectomy...?
and my reasoning is this: As a man, I can not carry my own child inside of me, I must depend on a woman to do it. A woman who would then have all the say in whether or not to abort MY child. As a man, I am powerless to defend my own offspring against their own mother for the first nine months of it's life. No matter what the mother may assert to the contrary, I am powerless to defend. SO....I am using what power I do have, the power not to impregnate. I like sex, and could also have a lot more of it. I want to know what you think about this and if any men would be willing to do it for the same reason.
I am married for over six years and have one child that I love and care for. I would love and care for any child I create. It is the fact that the decision to abort would be completely out of my hands that I cannot accept. I'm not leaving little babies lives up to trust and chance.

Did you think you are doing something unusual that sets you apart? I was 21 when I had a vasectomy. I never had children. I have been married. You are not even unusual.

I agree abortion is wrong. The safest place a baby should ever be is in its mother's womb. But don't you think you are going to the extreme here? Why not wait for a happy and secure marriage where you both have the same values to have kids and lots of sex? Not all women murder their offspring via abortion you know. I raised my three and they are just fine. If you still think a vasectomy is the right thing, congrats and go for it! Peace!

I would not have a vasectomy for the reason that you have stated above. I for one, have more self control so I use prophylactics sleep with women who know they are sexually active and use birth control. Second, I don't mind that you don't want to have kids because, although I do in the future, the world is overpopulated and one less kid is one less mouth to feed and one less body to shelter. And third, its not your kid just because it carries half your genetic code. What makes a child yours is if you take care of them and give them love. Your paternal instincts are a bit wack as far as nature is concerned, most fathers jet or even kill and eat their young after the female has the babies.
