where can i get Anti-virus software for free?
I have a Trojan and I want to get rid of it. All the anti-virus software I have downloaded says its free at first but when it gets to the point where its time to take the virus off they try and make me pay.
Is there a place to get one for free that is up to date with all the trojans going around?

VI use Avast now, I have also got superantispyware and Malwarebytes. I recently changed to Comodo firewall which seems fine and I seem to boot up quicker. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans Hackers etc. I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps

Free = Useless.
If it is not a trial version, it don't work...unless it's a firewall.
AVOID AVGFree as if your life depended on it...while the paid-for version is decent, the freeware crap they give out is among the worst crap in the game. It has a detection rate of 60%, and the industry considers anything under 80% to be unacceptable!
If you want good and reliable Security, you generally have to pay for it.
Avast! is supposed to be a decent one-off scanner.
Anti-Malwarebytes is also supposed to be decent, but it is an on-demand scanner, not a real-time one.
As for the free crap from Microsoft...don't bother.
Good Luck!

Try Kaspersky.
http://usa.kaspersky.com/trials/home-users/interne...
I don't recall it asking me to pay since I used the trial for 30 days.
IF it doesn't work, download:
Avira AntiVir
SUPERAntiSpyware
http://www.superantispyware.com/
And Threatfire
You can have all three at the same time and one of them should be able to get rid of the trojan.

AVG will not remove Malware. That's what a trojan is. Don't waste your time with it. There is a new one out there. It's a cleaner. I beta tested it and it worked well. Give it a try.
