I have no idea what this quote regarding rap is supposed to mean.?
"As H.L. Distribution owner Hinsul Lazo puts it, 'Rap used to be the flavor of the month, and then it became the flavor of the week and then the day, and now it's the flavor of the moment.'"
This is meant to imply something important, but I'm not sure what the differences between those things could possibly imply.

Basically rap music is now full of one hit wonders and no longer full of meaningful words and lyrics. Since the beginning of rap its been about 'the message' one of positive influence and staying knowledgeable and has slowly matriculated to one of negative influences and nonsense messages like, "I swag I surf". Former artist had longevity and current artist, if they should even be called such, are individuals who are for "the moment.
The quote implies simply: rap has transformed from something meaningful to something meaningless.
