Burning charcoal for snow blocking problem on the road in Sweden during winter?

To Swedish folks.

I've heard that in particular cities in Sweden, they'll burn charcoal on side of road to prevent the snow blocking the road.

Is that true? How effective this method? Could you please give me the link, picture, document, etc.

Thanks...

I've never heard of this being done in Sweden, and can't imagine it since it's not exactly a green solution. I attempted to look it up and found no reference to it on Swedish web sites or newspapers.

Most of the time, gravel is used on walkways, and the snow is just pushed off the road. People use winter tires, and many people in cities switch to public transportation during winter even if they usually drive otherwise.

No, this is not true. We use plowing machines (is that the correct word) to get rid of snow from our roads.

Trying to burn charcoal in -20 degrees and deep snow would be veeery difficult.
