how to potty train a 3 year old Dog (Corgi)?
My bestfriend just adopted a new dog because its owner had to go to a nursing home. The dogs breed is a corgi and she's 3 years old and she's really shy she keeps running away from us. ( I guess thats because she lived with an old lady who didn't really play with her).
The family has been having problems with her: she isn't potty trained and always pees on the carpet inside their house. The mum has been stressed out since the first couple of days now and wants to give her up but my bestfriend thinks its sad and doesn't want to because its like abandoning a pet.
Is there a way to convince my best friends mum to keep the dog? I don't know if a dog at that age can be potty trained.

If your friend has only had a dog for a couple of days & they are ready to get rid of it, maybe a dog isn't right for them. toilet training a dog takes paients. also if youre not cleaning the urine properly(whihc is hard in carpet) the dog will keep weeing there. you need to try newpaper train her. you need to give her lots of praise when she has gone outside or on the newspaper. it can take up to a year to train a dog how to use the toilet properly.
hope this helps & merry xmas.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aM86P
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Yes she can be potty trained. Before you head down the path though, has she been taken to the vet to make sure the problem isn't a physical one. Bladder infections can cause indiscriminate wetting.
The dog will be stressed for a week or so after coming to a new home. I suggest confining her to a small area that can be easily cleaned. Put a nice cosy bed and make sure she gets plenty of time out from heaps of different people. Just one person should interact with her for at least 2 weeks. Once she has become accustomed to the house, the new pack leader then she can be introduced to other members in her new den area where she feels comfortable.
Like humans....stress less, makes life easier for us and our pets benefit from the same.

At that age, yes, you can potty train and it's not that bad. Crate training is the easiest method.
But if she's only had her for two days and is already ready to throw in the towel, perhaps it's best if she re-homes the dog.

Ehm..
One good way of stopping unwanted dog behaviours is attending a traning course. You'll learn the causes and some techniques to solve all your problems with your furry friend. A good online course you can follow is: http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=572
Their method is gentle, simple and most importantly effective. I recommend it.
Cheers ;)
