It's called a tilde... I think.
It's used mostly in the Spanish letter n (But with the tilde on top of the n)

It's called a 'tilde'...
In Spanish it make the 'n' sound like a 'ny' (as in onion).....
Espanol sounds like it is written but Español sounds like espanyol.
In Portuguese it makes the vowels sound nasal... as in não, confusões etc.

its an accent in some languages, and its called a tilde(Spanish).
