My Sims 3 registration code won't work?

I know I've got it in correctly, it just says it's wrong. I already installed it on my other computer, could that be the issue?

Thanks evveryone, I feel like an idiot but....

I was using my Sims 2 university code by accident.

Ugh. *facepalm*

    you can install it multiple times, three to be exact,if it is a brand new copy i would suggest contacting EA games and asking for a new code just tell them your problem and that you only installed it on one computer.

    I believe the codes are meant for you to install it once, or at least on one computer.

    thats most likely the issue. i dont think you can use it twice. you can also contact an EA advisor and ask him about it. if you want it on one computer, im certain you must uninstall the other one
