Chem help involving (pressure )?

An open-end mercury manometer was constructed from a U-shaped tube. In a particular measurement, the level in the end connected to the gas container, on which the experiment was being conducted, measured 76.2 cm above the U-neck, while the level in the open end (to the atmosphere) was 23.8 cm above the U-neck. The outside air pressure in the laboratory was measured as 754 torr. What is the pressure in the gas container?

Can somebody explain how to find the answer please ?

The difference in vertical distance between the two mercury surfaces in the manometer tube will represent the difference between the atmospheric pressure on the outside of the container, and the pressure on the inside.

From the relative heights of the mercury, the pressue outside the flask is greater than the pressure inside. Change this difference to millimeters of mercury and subtract it from the outside pressure of 754 mm or torr and you will have the inside flask pressure.
