Have a 6 week old baby and......?

My husband and i have been at each others throats the last few days. I still havent been able to leave my daughter with anyone because I have a trust issue, even with the people i trust most. We cant have a civil conversation without arguing about something. I am the one that stays at home with baby and he works but he has started to get an attitude with me everytime i try and do something that doesnt pertain to taking care of her when it leaves him alone with her. I know we need alone time but i dont feel like that would be enough at this point, any other suggestions?

Being new parents is stressful for some people. Have a discussion where both of you can express any issues you're having.

As far as not leaving her yet, that's not a trust issue, that's nature. She's new, she isn't meant to be separated from you.

I think all new parents go thru this it is tough to say the least! Dad isn't going to understand (or atleast that was my expeerience). I have found I have to pick my battles better, try to see where he is coming from and communicate. Spending time with him doesn't have to mean going out or leaving baby. Early on when baby took a nap we would spend time talking and have a cup of coffee, now that she is 6 months when she goes down for the night at 8pm we spend that time together, light a few candles, coffee and talk, snacks and a card game, cuddling on the couch. Just remind yourself you do need to remember you were a couple before baby for a reason.

  • Most every relationship is tough when you have a baby.

    I know mine was atleast.

    But it does get better.

Just try to talk to him about it and about how you are feeling.

You guys are both really stressed out right now, I mean you just had a baby 6 wks ago.. its a tough thing to transition into.

This sounds to me like normal new parent squabbling, which means everything will be okay.

    I wouldnt worry too much.

My baby is also 6 weeks old me and my husband having arguments i think its just so much has gone on in such little time with lack of sleep! you should try and have time alone watch a movie while the baby is sleeping!

Tell him how you feel and have an open mind. Most guys miss those first moments and regret it because they are too busy still being babies.

well, maybe have someone else (like his mother) explain how tough it is not getting a break, even if you are home. my husband is a total jerk like that too and pretty much has been since i left my job, go figure!
