Is this what Copenhagen was really all about?

Quotes from some attendees:

“The principal obstacle to combating climate change is capitalism. Until we put an end to capitalism, it will continue to be a big obstacle for life and humanity.” -Evo Morales, Bolivian President

“When these capitalist gods of carbon burp and belch their dangerous emissions, it’s we, the lesser mortals of the developing sphere, who gasp and sink and eventually die.” -Robert Mugabe, Zimbabwe's Tyrant

“Capitalism is a destructive model that is eradicating life, that threatens to put a definitive end to the human species.” -Hugo Chavez, Venezuelan village idiot

Are there any similar quotes in praise of capitalism or condemning socialism at the conference?

They are politicians (or worse, especially in the case of Mugabe) who can be expected to do stupid things like that.

The talk of carbon trading even though it won't work probably should be taken as being in praise of capitalism (very faint praise), China also bought up some free market rhetoric when they opposed carbon tariffs (never mind that carbon tariffs might be needed for the free market to actually help reduce emissions).

No not at all, this whole farce is nothing less than a ploy for the continuation of the socialist progressive plan for a new world order. They take control of everything in our lives, condemn capitalisim because its a threat to their ideals, and the monarchy gets richer at the expense of the common man who they dupe into voting them into power with false promises. When these jerks get done with us they'll make Hitler look like an angel.

    Robert Mugabe, Zimbabwe's Tyrant?

He didn't need global warming to ruin his country, he did it all by himself.

Rhodesia was "The Breadbasket of Africa", now Zimbabwe is a basket case.

It is now and always was a left wing power grab funded by David Rockefeller and his servants like Clinton, Obama and Carter. But this slave religion has been at the core of the liberal movement since its beginnings more than 2,000 years ago. Remember it was the democratic party that invented slavery in the US and we had the civil war because they dod not want to give up their slaves. But as most dark skinned people are politically democrats again it seems that some people would rather be slave instead of free. And a whole lot of lighter skinned people seem to enjoy being servants to the leftist masters as on the political left there is no middle ground, you are master or slave!

Strange how the world leaders didn't feel much compunction at allowing delegates from Zimbabwe, Sudan, Ethiopia and other human-rights abusing countries to come to the summit and talk to them. Was it really necessary that they attended? I thought it was monumental hypocrisy.

"Never mind the people being macheted and raped, there's carbon to discuss!"

It's simple alarmist see things differently, capitalism is the cause of global warming and both are destroying the planet. Now stop your whining and give me your money, my country wants to build me a bigger estate.

if liberals hated capitalism so much they should move. but of course they won't, because while they hate capitalism, they love hypocrisy even more.
