Unwanted capitals when using Dragon Naturally Speaking for dictation.?
When I pause in the middle of a sentence, the next word is capitalised. This is a nuisance. How do I stop it?
1 AnswerWords & Wordplay1 year agoIn MS Word, how do I copy the list of files in a folder to a new document?
I want to rearrange the allocation of files in a set of folders (specifically, these are files related to chapers in a book that I am writing, and I am rearranging the range of the chapters). So it would be helpful to copy the list of files that appears (not the files themselves!) when I open the existing folders

15 AnswersGarden & Landscape3 years agoHow do I dispose of my body in Scotland, cheaply and without ceremony?
How do I dispose of my body? Serious question; I am in good health, but 78, and while I have promised it to Glasgow Medical School, there is no guarantee that they will accept it. What is the cheapest and most fuss-free way of getting rid of it if they don't?
4 AnswersOther - Health & Beauty4 years agoHow do I get someone's credit record, with their permission of course?
I have a property to let in Glasgow. A friend of a friend may be interested. Before giving her a lease, I would want to check her credit record. How do I do this?
3 AnswersRenting & Real Estate5 years agoWhy has Windows 10 stopped behaving normally?
I am running Widows 10 on a Lenovo G500, having upgraded months ago from Windows 8.
Since the most recent upgrade, a few days ago, the button in the bottom far left hand corner has become completely unresponsive. Previously, clicking here would give me a range of options including settings and power, which I used to Sleep or Shut Down. Now I can only shut down by pressing the physical on-off button on the computer, and this seems to just be taking me to Sleep mode. There is no way I can find the full startup menu with settings etc.
What do I need to do?

2 AnswersSoftware5 years agoWindows offers e a free upgrade from 8.1 to 10. Should I take it?
I loved XP, liked 7, and tolerate 8 now I've learnt how to open to a semi-reasonable desktop. I use my computer for wordprocessing, blogging (including images but not video or sound), and the usual on-line stuff (not much downloading of large files).
The one thing I like about 8 is its built-in Search facility, rendering Copernic unnecessary.
I will want to carry on using my existing MS Office (2007) and Naturallyspeaking voice recognition (12).

Can I transfer the files to run WordPerfect from an old to a new computer?
Old computer was XP. I had manually loaded WordPerfect but have lost the disc and serial number. New computer is Windows 8.1
3 AnswersOther - Computers7 years agoMy laptop is trying unasked to install programs?
Still running on WinXP (yes, I know!); my laptop keeps on tryng to install Roxio Update Manager (I ignore this) and Dragon naturallySpeaking 10 (which I have). It asks for a CD but won't recognise the source CD when I load it, and (worse) refuses to load NaturallySpeaking from my desktop icon, on the grounds that an installation is already taking place. I keep on cancelling; it keeps on coming back.
How should I proceed? I have a new laptop with Win8, but am too busy right now to transfer my files to it.
2 AnswersSoftware7 years agoWorking from "desktop" in Windows 8?
I am taking delivery later this month of a new PC running on Windows 8, (presumably in fact 8.1)
I am used to Windows XP and to working from my "desktop" screen. Microsoft claims I can still do this in Windows 8, and that I can set Windows 8 to go to "desktop" instead of the Start screen when I turn on the PC.
Is this so, and will it really feel and behave like what I'm used to with XP?

3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality7 years agoUnfreezing or shutting down a frozen laptop?
My Dell Vostro 1710 laptop, running Windows XP, sometimes freezes up, especially (I think) when I've been using voice recognition along with other demanding programs.
a) Why does this happen and (b) more important, how do I shut it down, short of physically disconnecting from mains power and partly removing the battery?
