What do you think about Obama giving amnesty to 12 million illegals, in 2010?
Yeah, it's amnesty, they don't have to pay back tax's, they get social security and welfare without paying in. only costs them $500, as opposed to the thousands of dollars people that have been waiting for years have to pay. And Obama said, "no health care for illegal aliens", that's right, they wont be illegal any more. And they get a break on college tuition, that citizens don't get. Plus 30,000 gang members will be eligible, not to mention the ones in jail on immigration charges, that will be let go. Do you think this is a good idea?
Zinryzit that's the point, the country is already in the toilet, and once the first wave gets settled in, and each one brings 8 relatives, where you gonna find a job?
I'm going to Mexico, that's where all the jobs are going.
Hey Naty, look up "ILLEGAL".Then look up "presidents that think they can do whatever they want", because their "advisers said so" Hitlers advisers said so..
Grease, we all ready don't have enough jobs to go around, 12 million more unemployed aint gonna help. And, being born here, I think I should have a job before someone here illegally. But that's just me.

White House to Begin Push on Immigration Overhaul in 2010
By JULIA PRESTON
November 14, 2009
Laying out the administration’s bottom line, she said it will argue for a “three-legged stool” that includes enacting tougher enforcement laws against illegal immigrants and the people who hire them, and streamlining the system for legal immigration, but also what she called a “tough and fair pathway to earned legal status.”
Congress should be ready to move forward on immigration, Ms. Napolitano said, because the administration had made a “fundamental change” in security at the border and in cracking down on employers hiring illegal immigrants. She said that the Border Patrol had increased its forces by more than 20,000 officers, and that more than 600 miles of border fence had been completed, both milestones set by Congress.
“Let me emphasize this,” she said. “We will never have fully effective law enforcement or national security as long as so many millions remain in the shadows.”
Under the administration’s plan, illegal immigrants would have to register, pay fines and all taxes they owe, pass a criminal background check and learn English.

Actually the misguided souls who so easily fall for the open borders talking points (as several above have obviously done) are almost comical - if this wasn't such a idiotic idea.
It is far worse then you have descried.
1. The $500 fee will be waived for most as there are several loopholes.
2. No local agency of any kind can inquire about immigration status from here on out - so the next batch of illegals will get any social services they apply for.
3. If a known violent criminal is over 65 they can stay. Only those younger criminals with CONVICTIONS of a "serious" nature will be denied - whatever that means.
4. It allows for increased legal immigration and yet more family re-unification immigration. The exact things that drive a lot of our illegal immigration and allows people to immigrate who are not wanted here.
5. It eliminates E-verify which has been proved to be accurate and no instance of errors that have not been corrected without incident have ever occurred (try that with ANY other government program).
6. Foreign worker visas are increased - as if we don't have enough unemployment already!
It basically is a full press on opening up our borders for anyone to come here. It will lower the quality of life for every AMERICAN and will mean we will be RATIONING water, gasoline, housing, medical, school space etc that much sooner.

"Tough & fair pathway to citizenship" and all these "penalties" illegals would have to pay (including back taxes.) in order to earn their citizenship/amnesty, is just pro-illegals B.S. smoke screens added in order to soften anti-amnesty-anti-illegals, in allowing amnesty to be passed. Once amnesty would be passed all these TOUGH stipulation & requirements loopholes would vanish like smoke, and would never be enforced, illegals would be "on easy/freebie street" -to devastation/catastrophe of U.S. and American citizens-the taxpayers.Read George`s lips: NO AMNESTY, NO PATH TO CITIZENSHIP FOR I -L-L-E-G-A-L-S.. other than right, legal way of all other LEGAL immigrants.

Joe, as far as amensty is concerned....WHO CARES!?!??!?! This country has gone to pot with so many illegals, and NOTHING has been done about it for so long. So, if they DO pass an immigration reform (aka amnesty), this country will continue to experience problems stemming from it. Either way you look at it, amnesty or no amnesty, things will NOT get better for this country. Duh, you should've figured that out a LONG TIME AGO, Joe.
So, what are we worried about? Ruining such a puritan nation? Ruining our great reputation? Ruining a country that''s already screwed up?
And remind me again....what do we plan on accomplishing through all this? That's what I thought.

No matter how hard you try to distort the truth. Very literate people will be able to tell the difference in between your misguided assertions and the reality. I am fully aware of your ignorance of what is called an ITIN, read here so you educate yourself on the matter:
http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=96287...
As the guidelines will be clearly defined and not 12 million people illegally staying in OUR country will be eligible, once again, educate yourself a little bit more about the proposals:
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:H.R.264...
Ignorance is not an excuse for distorting the truth and even if you disagree with fairness in the execution of our laws, one day the law itself will come back at you too. I guarantee you that!
Illegal reporting their income with their ITIN are currently being deducted taxes so, let me LOL at your statement. As for the health care provided for them, the ITIN registered people have been receiving their monthly statements and have been paying their care because they do exist.
I pity people like you whose ignorance is greater than their ability to understand that not everything is black and white....

LOVE IT! because it'll get these people out of the shadows and back to working, spending and investing in themselves and their families. There many reports from different sources that say Amnesty will get us out of this recession, but I think Republicans know this and they know it'll make Obama look good, so they continue to push against something else that benefits the Tax Paying Citizens of America.

Greenspan: Immigration reform will help economy
WASHINGTON - Congress should enact "badly needed" immigration reforms to bring in both unskilled and skilled foreign workers if it wants to maintain the nation's economic vitality, former Federal Reserve chief Alan Greenspan said Thursday.

Amnesty for undocumented workers would boost economies, bring people out of shadows

Legalization Would Boost Economy During Recession
Legalization increases short-term incomes, job creating consumption and net tax revenues in the low wage segments of the labor market, as well as sets the long-term foundation for an expanding middle class and a more sustainable economic recovery.

I do think an Amnesty is a good idea. However you are way off base on something. No immigrant, legal or illegal, can receive any form of public assistance for the first 5 yrs they have their green card! PERIOD!!
My husband is an immigrant, I am real curious about all these breaks immigrants supposedly can get. Will you please edit your question (or email me) and let me know.
