Difference in atkins, south beach, and just winging low carb?

I am on a low carb diet. Not Atkins or South Beach per se, but just not eating any more than 20 carbs total (minus dietary fiber) daily. A friend and I were dicussing this (she is an avid Atkinser). She insists you lose more weight on Atkins than if you just cut out carbs. Anyone have personal experiences to compare?

    Well the South Beach diet doesn't seem as effective, so I wouldn't bother with that.

    The difference, most likely,between Atkins and a regular low-carb diet is that Atkins includes many low-carb "junk" foods that will help keep your cravings away and you'll be able to follow it easier. The results, with the perfect willpower, on both diets would probably be about the same (but your diet would probably be better for your health if you include healthy fruits/vegetables, lean meat, etc.), but it depends on you individually - if you have a good willpower and trust yourself to be able to resist cravings, then you should stick with your own diet. But if you feel you may need some help with that, then go with Atkins.

    I tried out everything to lose weight, and nothing worked until I tried out colon cleanse.
