Do you feel sorry for the 3 hikers jailed in Iran?

I did at first. Then, I found out they're 3 liberal hippies from Berkeley with no common sense whatsoever. Why, on God's good name and everything that's holy, would you go hiking in Iran when you have Yosemite National Park just 3 hours away? You college students need to stop thinking you can change the world. I know it's easy to think you know all the answers when mommy and daddy are paying for your tuition while you drink from a beer bong every weekend but come on!.......

They're either the dumbest hikers in the world or what I lean to believe they are just State Department undercover doing surveillance in Iran. No person with any common sense would travel to Iraq during an existing war and hang out climbing their way to Iran who hates all Americans unless they are working for the CIA or State Department. Either way I don't wish them bad and hope they are released but with the tensions between the US and Iran I think some bad choices were made and may cost lives for it.

I do feel sorry for them, but wonder what they were doing over there..

That is like putting your head in a tiger's mouth, those folks are not even a little bit friendly..

I home they get them out..

Iran will surely use them to get as much sympathy and attention on the news as they can and after about a year they will be let go..

Yes I feel bad, but as you stated a little common sense could have prevented this situation from unfolding. Like, what were they doing hiking so close to Iran? Wake up people!

I'm not sorry for them at all, they put themselves in that mess, you go and hike in a unstable country like Iraq and Iran and not expect any trouble, sure.................

they got and are getting what they deserve, if they get out of there, they'll learn their lesson and teach others not to be dumb*sses like them, geez, how stupid can u get!!

I get where your coming from. Those students were kind of stupid to think they would be safe hiking in that area, however it turns out at least one of them spoke arabic and had lived in the middle east with their parents so its more understandable.

I would say i do feel bad, no matter how clueless they were. Nobody expects to be jailed on vacation, and Iranians are ******* scary.

Ooooh Tobias Maximus, you sound like an angry young man to me, it can't be just because of these three hikers surely.

I feel sorry for anyone jailed in Iran, regardless of their political persuasion.

So if they were bible beatin' missionaries it would be better? I have empathy for them but not sympathy.
