My dogs won't use the bathroom in the snow?

I have two dogs....beagle terrier mixes. We had a really bad snow storm and still have about a foot and a half of snow. They will go pee in the snow but they refuse to go poo. I keep taking them out because I know they have not gone poo since at least Saturday and I am sure they need to go but they just won't go. We have cleared a little pathway for them so there is some grass but they still won't go. What can we do to help them to use the bathroom because I am sure they are really uncomfortable and I don't want them to get sick?

Update:

It's not a matter of it being cold outside. They just go outside and pee and run back to the door. Sometimes they won't even go outside. I have to force them out the door. THey just stand and stare at me like "You expect me to poo in THIS?!?!". I will stand outside all day if I have to but the dogs are not cooperating with me here lol.

I know it is cold out but you just have to let them found a place to go know matter how long you have to be out doors they will found there own spot.

Well i had the same problem with my puppy. We cleared away some areas in the snow for him to go, He was more interested in chasing the snow but eventually he got the point and went. Stay in one spot and let them snoop around, keep them outside for a long time until they go. When my snow was really bad I acually just let him go in the street were the snow was plowed.

  • This is because they are not familiar with it or they don't want it to stand out. My dog hides when she uses the bathroom and when she is done you can't see it. Hope I could help!

Try to put some newspaper down, or puppy pads.
