Have you seen the movie Precious?

I saw it at the beginning of November, and i must say, it was an exceptional movie. It definitely deserves a big name award, like an oscar. Speaking of awards, i hear the girl that played precious is up for a golden globe nom. for best actress. She's going against some other women who have already won one probably (sandra bullock, etc.). Also, the movie itself is up for best picture, and it should win against movies like Avatar, which looks really stupid. If you saw the movie, what were your opinions on it? I personally like the book better myself, but then again, i like book versions over movie versions. I thought the cast was really good for most of them acting professionally for the 1st time. That girl that played the jamaican was sexy as hell too. I learned that mariah carey would look bad if she wasn't famous, because she wouldn't get all glamoured up like that. And i thought it was easy for monique to play the part considering that she cusses like that regularly.

I just finished watching it, and thought it was alright, I felt the story shouldn't have ended where it did, a few more scenes to wrap it up would have been an improvement. I found the mother's acting to be the best, she had to display a whole different array of emotions, and nailed her performances. I disagree that Mariah Carey looked bad, I thought she was beautiful with no make up on, and actually preferred that look over her airbrushed overly glamorous look that she does for the cameras.
Have you seen Avatar, it has nothing on Precious. Avatar opened up a whole different way of doing cinema, and was the best movie I've seen all year.

Yes I thought it was a really good movie. I don't think Monique had  it easy, I mean she's not a hateful evil person like that. Sure she might curse but she's a comedian, so I thought she did a good job.

Yes and it was a very sad movie.But unfortunately it's a very realistic view of everyday life for a lot of people.No matter what race they are.But I like the movie but I hated the ending.It's rumored that there will be a sequel.

OMG I haven't cried over a movie since The Lion King when I was younger... and Precious had me crying like I was actually experiencing her drama. I think that movie definitely deserves multiple awards. I was kinda pissed with the ending. I expected more...

the first time i could stand to see mariah in a movie (lets not talk about Glitter), monique completely became her character, it brought tears to my eyes, made me laugh, turned my stomach, made me love prescious, too... all that good stuff

Prescious is a really good movie.. very raw and real.
Avatar is all hollywood, relying on effects and glamour and color.
