Admiral ... as the mega Star Trek fan that you are I am absolutely stunned by this question from you. You, of all people, should know that the new Star Trek movie is NOT a "prequel". It is an "alternate universe" story caused by one of the stories in one of the series, I forget which one, that went back in time and destroyed the Kelvin at a different time. That one change altered the birth of James Kirk and the new movie goes off in a totally new direction because of it.

As for your question ... it has only one obvious answer ... Star Wars ... because the new Star Trek isn't a prequel.

May The Force Be With You ...

To "Spaceman": Dude you keep throwing around that "true fan" statement and somebody is gonna start a fight with you. It won't be me because I refused to have a fight with an unarmed person and you obviously are working from a very flawed opinion. There is only ONE constant when it comes to Star Wars fans ... we seldom agree about anything ... that is what makes us ALL "true fans". Grow up a little and then you might be able to hold your own in a debate ... provided the person you are debating with leaves their brain outside the debate room.

The STAR WARS Prequels, despite a lot of critical and fan disdain, are still superior to the new back to basics STAR TREK movie (which I thoroughly enjoyed by the way). The new STAR TREK movie incorporated a lot of elements from STAR WARS prior success- story, design and effects wise-which is why it was such a big hit worldwide. Lucas made three STAR WARS Prequels that were unique and stylistically different to the Originals and yet could, on the whole, successfully lead into the classic films from 1977, 1980 and 1983. Not all of the elements in the Prequels worked, but it was a bold attempt and a lot of it WAS great. Dramatically, EPISODE III is the best of the Prequel Trilogy but I'm pretty fond of EPISODE I as it does feel very STAR WARS'sy and incorporates lots of elements from the early 1973-1975 screenplays of the original 1977 film that Lucas didn't, or couldn't, use.

Neither seemed to follow what made their predecessors great. Standing alone I would say the new Star Trek is better because it's just a good, fun action movie. The goal for the new Star Trek was to reinvent Star Trek and I believe this was achieved. I liked certain aspects of the Star Wars prequels, but other aspects were awful and taken as a whole I felt the movies were subpar.

Umm James Kirk isnt an Admiral.. and hasnt been so for almost 25 years now! but lets get to the point. Even though Star Wars prequels arent what they should have been, they are still better overall. It amazes me how people seemed to totally HATE Phantom Menace but LIKE or even LOVE Revenge of the Sith. It makes no sense whatsoever. A true fan should be able to recognize quality when they see it. The dialogue and acting were Horrible! Hayden is totally the wrong choice for Darth Vader and everyone knows it. he made the greatest villain of all time seem like a whiny little punk...they wasted WAY too much time on characters that NOBODY cares about like General Grievous and Padme. then they go ahead and kill Dooku in the beginning of the movie? whatever... the final fight between anakin and kenobi was cool but seemed like too much special effects were used making it seem unreal. anyway Phantom Menace is the best of the 3 prequels and I will argue with the best of them who say otherwise!!

Star Trek isn't really a prequel because they took it down the clever "alternate universe" road. They can change anything they want at this point without fans getting pissed at their destroying the canon.

Star Wars on the other hand stayed true to the canon, but did a horrible job.

I'd go with Star Trek just because I actually look forward to the next one. Throughout the Star Wars fiasco I kept telling myself "two more movies and it's over...one more movie and it's over...it's over! That sucked!"

    Story line:

Ep 3 is best. Star wars always needed that to be told. It was burried for years only in a book Lucas wrote.

    Over all:

    Star Trek

it extremely is hard, i think of revenge of the sith kicked some severe ***, yet those first 2 nevertheless sucked, and the action picture star trek perquel kicked severe ***, yet i'm gonna wait until eventually ultimately the subsequent trek action picture to comeout formerly i choose.
