Question For Gay Marriage Opponents?

FIRST... you should post this question on another section. This is the LGBT section and few people here will be against gay marriage (except for some trolls who won't give you any real answer). Try asking this on the Spirituality/Religion section and you might get a real debate. Here everybody agrees with you.

SECOND... I do agree with you. Marriage is a personal thing. If you believe in the sanctity and the eternity of it, act accordingly (try to be happy with what you've got, do not cheat and do not get a divorce). BUT most people do not live by that anymore. For them marriage is just a ceremony. The majority of people who are against gay marriage falls into this huge contradiction: they say it is against the Bible and against the classic idea of marriage... when a) nobody today follows the religious vision of marriage and b) the classic idea of marriage itself changed many times over time.

So it is a huge sign of ignorance to be against gay marriage. Their argumentation is too weak and their reasons are easy to shoot down.

I don't see where a cheating wife beater in a straight marriage has anything to do with Gay marriage. I'm sure there are Gay relationships where the same things can occur and it's wrong in both instances. I don't know how many men Tiger slept with. They're not done counting all the women yet.

The amusing thing about the anti gay marriage religious parade is that the fear they spread today when putting down gay marriage, this is the very same words used in the 50s to put down mixed race marriage.

Unfortunately for their cause, in the 50s, none of the things said that would happen, never happened.

This will be the case now when after gay marriage is allowed, the world did not end.

That's not why they think it will devalue their marriage. They think if gays can get married then their marriage doesn't mean anything because it's like they are on the same level as us.

It's basically a "We want to have something that you don't have" dog complex.

Their marriages will be "devalued" because the only way they can feel special is to keep other people down.

totally agree if they dont want to legalize gay marriage than they should make divorce illegal and having an affair illegal. i mean they want to keep marriage "pure and sacred" then why dont you ban divorce?? people are so stupid always having to control one another, just let it go!

our generation is becoming more liberal, so if you can wait a bit longer, it'll be better
