How do I put my 1981ford f-150 in 4wd?

I don't have the book. Is there anything special I have to do? I had a 1994 Wrangler and you had to drive it in reverse for 10 ft. Anything other than lock the hubs, start truck and put in neutral, clutch in and into 4wd, into reverse and out of my driveway? Thanks!

seeing as how its an 81, you will have manual locking hubs...but you knew that. just make sure the hubs are locked, put the transmission in park or neutral, grab the transfer case shifter and put it in either 4 high or 4 low, put the transmission in gear and go. to disengage 4 wheel drive, all you need to do is put the transfer case back into 2 and unlock the hubs. no need to back up because they are manually locked and unlocked. only have to back up if they are auto locking hubs

to go into 4 wheel drive its just put into 4 low and go......locking hubs first of course.....

but to get it out of 4 low u should back the truck up for 25 ft first.......good luck
