If there is supposedly a separation of church and state in the U.S., why is there a congressional chaplain?
Can someone explain this hypocrisy?

better yet, fire all the hypocrits in congress and the idiots in the whitehouse all the way to the idiot president that was elected to change the way things are done in Washington but have only gotten worse. Does anyone not care that the USA is 12 trillion in debt, with another 106 trillion in promised dollars and u are worried about some chaplain that's probably done more good than all the blowhards in congress put together.

Just because our government are in theory separated, doesn't mean our leaders are not religious. The fact the house a chaplain does not mean he is in any way setting laws or directly influencing our countries policies.

When you can explain how the presence of a chaplain establishes a state religion, then you can call it hypocrisy.

Uh, it's not as though the congressional chaplain has any POWER. It's symbolic.
Yes, strictly speaking it does impinge on the wall of seperation, but since it has NO consequences, no one cares.

Because Christians will ram their religion down our throats at every opportunity.
I say we let the chaplain go - he is unnecessary overhead and skip the morning prayer (which is a colossal waste of time) in the Senate, etc.

Same reason we used to make it illegal to open businesses on Sunday: Prior Americans often ignored that Amendment when making laws.
Just because an unconstitutional law is already on the books does not make it correct.
