WereWolves of London, what do you think it means?
I have had this song in my head for some time even if it is way before my time and I keep thinking about what it means, Here is what I think, what do you think(if you do not know the song, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MRu8N2K0NY).
I think it shows how people can be made out as monsters, when they are really just misunderstood.
Let me give you an example in the song,
"I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand, walking through the streets of Soho in the rain. He was lookin for the place called Lee Ho Fooks, for him to get a big dish of beef chow mein"
Now this shows that the 'monster' is doing something that everyone would do,
then it is followed by "Ya hear him howlin around your kitchen door, ya better not let him in.
Little old lady got mutilated late last night, werewolves of London again." I think this is more of a sarcastic view, showing that something bad happed so it 'has to be' to be those werewolf's that did it because they are monsters, when all he every see them doing is every day things, and never doing anything wrong.
SO AM I READING TO MUCH INTO THIS SONG, WHAT DO YOU THINK IT IS ABOUT OR MEANS

I loooooove this song! Warren Zevon was amazing.
I have always wondered about the lyrics too. I like the line "I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's - his hair was perfect." I like your interpretation...does seem to fit...or maybe just an overall acceptance of bad people/things.

I've never seen that movie but apparently most modern werewolf stuff is on some level based on that movie, and from what I know from more modern werewolf stuff is mostly instinct, the human during the day or night w/o the full moon is scared of what he's become, or what will happen to him if people find out, so he keeps to himself, and before the full moon he'll run out into the woods so no-one will see him, then he'll feel a shitload of pain and wake the next morning, with no memory of turning into a beast and attacking I think that the beast attacks as a matter of instinct because on some plane of consciousness it's still the confused, scared human
