What does it mean if my "Air Bag" light is on?

I'm driving a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon (GT V6) w/about 93k miles on it. Just the other day, the "Air Bag" light on my dash came on. I've not been in a wreck (not in this car anyway :p), nobody's kicked my bumper, nothing like that...what happened here? Could it just be a sensor gone bad? If so, does that mean my air bag might not fire if I got in an accident? About how much would it cost to replace it if it is just a sensor?

more than likely a bad sensor or a wire has come off a sensor, the bag won't deploy as long as that light is on so you need to take it in and have it looked at.

SRS, Air bag, Anti-lock (failure) unless you have turned off the Air bag or it has a front passenger sensor. have the car running and sit in the front passenger side for about 5 min, see if it turns off.

Most of the time SRS system is warrantied for the life of the car at no charge to you. sometimes you will have to go/ call to the Manufacture corporate office in your country. They want you to pay for the repairs, but if you battle them in most cases they will fold and have it taken care of.

As a safety feature, you can turn off the passenger airbag. You need to do this if you have a car seat in the front passenger side. You may have inadvertently turned off the passenger airbag and it is letting you know it is off. In my Nissan, you could turn on/off the passenger airbag with the ignition key.
