My moms guppies are getting big bellies and are swimming strangely.?

They are not overcrowded. The tank is not newly established. They are still eating. They haven't been treated with anything at this point. There are no other obvious problems with them.

It's males and females that are affected, so I know it isn't that they are full of babies.

I'm not great with fish, I'm no aquarist. I have worked for a veterinary clinic for 10 years, but we do not do aquatics.

Update:

I know guppies are live bearers. And the males are bloated. Sorry if I mentioned eggs. I think she had a Molly die recently as well.

I'm going to guess your fish have a type of bacterial disease because they are all showing signs of sickness. The link above goes to a nice reliable site, scroll down to the bacterial diseases and look and see if the symptoms sound like what your fish are showing.

    Best of Luck.

P.S. I'd also do a good water change and vacuuming, and fast them for a couple of days and see if that helps. But check out the site and hopefully it'll be something you can figure out and fix! :]

It sounds like they have Dropsy. It is a semi- contagious and you should quarantine the fish if possible. There are a few ways to fix it, I've had a few fish with Dropsy but they all died before I could treat them. Check this out.

good news and bad news the good news is that your female guppies are pregnent the bad news is you have to buy another tank for more baby guppies

1female guppy=20babies but you have more so ill say more than 100 babies

move the pregnent guppy(s) to a seperate tank and buy them a breedding trap so if they poop the babies out the moyher wont eat them

    P.S guppies dont lay eggs
