Need help from Relief Society Sisters...?
I need some pointers on how to lead a lesson/ discussion in church. Topic is from November Ensign Joseph Smith Prophet of the Restoration.

Well teaching in Relief Society is my favorite calling in the church. We each have our own personal teaching style however. I like to incorporate lots of visuals and music when I teach. Also, a lesson about Joseph & the Restoration is usually a pretty easy lesson and discussion usually pretty easy to come by from the group because people usually have very strong and tender feelings about Joseph and the Restoration.
You might consider asking a few sisters to share their feelings about Joseph & the Restored church from a convert and life time members stand point. Ask a small group of Sr. Primary kids to sing a great song about the restoration and then highlight the Ensign article by asking people to help you read selected portions that are especially good. Bear your own witness of the Prophet and choose a couple of significant questions that will encourage discussion. Not a hard one honestly.

I've only taught Relief Society once (I'm a guy). But I only had to say about 9 or ten sentences. The ladies did the rest. I just had to guide the discussion, and try to keep them on the topic. If you want to be better prepared than that (which I would suggest) try coming up with 2-4 questions on each section of the talk that interest you, or you think are important to ponder about. Come up with your own answers in case no one answers it.
I would much rather teach RS than EQ. ;-)

I have never taught in RS but I have had some really great teachers. They all have somethings in common. They use visual aids to emphasize the key points. They each have a different style, but each are wonderful at getting the points to us that we need. Some of our teachers are teachers by trade as well, so they are really good at capturing our attention. They also share a story or two of their personal lives that goes along with the lesson. I know you will do a great job, enjoy teaching!

Never taught RS but did participate constantly. :) Anyway find some good quotes out of the article and type them out or photocopy the article and cut them out and give some out so that your sisters on some key talking points so they can participate. Read a little of the article in the class but invite conversation and dialogue and you'll be fine. I've heard from others who teach that they are just as much a learner as well as a teacher.

Well, Kim, since you only want sisters to reply, and seeing that you have only had reprobates reply thus far, I have given you a star in hopes that it will attract some of my contacts to give you some serious responses.
Best regards.

start with these questions.
"was joseph smith a conman."
" why are there so many conflicting statements from the early mormons about the mormon faith.'
is there such a sin called adultery when men can have 4 wives , but the women cannot choose 4 husbands.'
