Are there any essential Pride FC or other promotion events that are must-watch?
Hey guys, i've been a UFC fan for more than a year now and I've watched many payperviews and every fight night since I started watching it. The thing is that besides Strikeforce and EliteXC (when it was around), I haven't watched many other MMA events or promotions. Are there any old Pride (or any other promotions or events for that matter) events that I should try to buy or watch?
Thanks so much.

Have you heard of WEC (World Extreme Cagefighter)?... It's like the UFC's little brother. Its owned by Zuffa, whom also owns the UFC, so you know its only gonna get better! Its not in competition with the UFC although because it only deals with lighter weight classes (ie. Bantam, Feather, lightweight). Though like the UFC, the fighters whom are in the WEC are of the top level in their weight class. Unlike Dream (the WEC's biggest competition) whom may have a couple top level fighters amongst b and c level fights, the WEC have a much higher level of competition. Some of their stand-outs include:
Miguel Torres
Urijah Faber
Brian Bowles
Jose Aldo
Mike Brown
Several fighters whom can fight in weight classes provided in the UFC have also moved on there, which shows the level of talent in the WEC. The most noteable in my eyes being Carlos Condit whom has started off with the UFC a bit slow (1-1) his opponents where tough introductions to the UFC, but I see him really making a name for himself, like he did in WEC with 24-5-0 record and former WEC welterweight champion (prior to being purchased by Zuffa and having it and heavier weightclasses cut so not to compete directly with UFC).
Also the colour commentary at the WEC is provided by Former UFC Heavyweight Champion (and soon to be again!!!) Frank Mir. Whom is very knowledgable and insightful much like the UFC's Joe Rogan.
Another organization that should be at least noted, is Bellator Fighting Championship. Whom while do not have the calaber of fighters as any of the above mentioned, did just finish a tournament to determine title holders, in which there were several great matches in which surely a nomination for both knock-out of the year and submission of the year is deserved.
