How to keep others off of my wireless internet connection?

I use linksys. I'm not sure how to explain what I'm asking. Basically I have laptop, desktop, and xbox live and a wireless router connecting them all to the internet. Sometimes it's really unbearably slow... I recently found out that my dirt ball neighbor used his ps3 internet off of my internet connection (he laughed about it and admitted it). Thus, I figure when he's on it as well is when it gets slow. Exactly how to do make it so only I can access my internet? I don't know how to set a password or I would. Thanks.

yes on your router there should be an IP address and also a posable default user name and password. open a web browser and type the address in and if you need to sign in use the log in info thats on the router. then in there you can set up encryption and change the user name and password of the router log in.

You need to read the manual that came with your wireless router.

You need to go into the settings of the router and turn on WPA2 security with AES - then protect it with a good password.

A longer password is better than a shorter password.

It's best to have both upper and lower case letters, along with some numbers.

Also it should not be a word in the dictionary.

WEP is too weak - don't use WEP security.

Can't you go to the linksys web site to find out? I don't have linksys, but the basics are that you have to go to the settings in the router using your web browser. You need to set the WAN or Wireless Lan to be secure or protected or accessible only with a password that you put in your computer's settings.
